The Copper Rivet Distillery in Chatham, Kent has created Masthouse Single Malt, made in accordance to the distillery`s very own Invicta Whisky Charter (yes, the distillers have a charter, setting out the rules and standards to which their whiskies will be produced!). This expression is distilled from Kentish malted barley from the nearby Isle of Sheppey, and was aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and virgin American white oak barrels. An impressive feat. On the nose apple and peachy fruit with cereal notes like malt and oats, with vanilla, cinnamon, marzipan, and a lift of lemon peel. The palate is creamy, with a full cereal texture, some peppery alcohol, you can feel the ABV. Smooth and round with porridge, chocolate digestive biscuits and that citrus peel note again. Vanilla comes through strongly on the finish with oatcakes and custard. Overall: Young but by no means raw or uncomplex. It’s smooth as hell and packed with flavour.

The Copper Rivet Distillery is an exciting and dynamic Medway based craft distillery. Drawing upon the area`s rich tradition of innovation and craft, the team will toil together to produce small batches of exceptional gins, whiskies and vodkas from scratch in bespoke stills, with the same skill that local craftsmen once fashioned world-class ships.

We`re the only spirit maker in Kent, and one of just a few in the UK that undertakes the complete process of brewing and distilling from grain to glass, ensuring our range of premium spirits is totally distinctive and unique

Set in the historic and magnificent Victorian Pump House No. 5, our distillery is open for tours. Come meet the team to see how we make and produce our range of spirits, explore and see firsthand the distilling process in action, play and experiment with flavour profiling in our laboratory and sup and savour some of our spirits for yourselves.

A great emphasis on flavour creation is observed using single field, single harvest, locally grown malted barley and the distillery’s signature long and slow approach to fermentation and pot distillation. This whisky brings a complex balance of tropical fruits, floral, citrus and dark chocolate notes. Rich sipping whisky, with touch of water, on the rocks or can indulge a great Manhattan cocktail. Matured in a combination of first fill ASBs and a
small proportion being high toast virgin American white oak barrel.
