*Plantation Rum has changed name to Planteray Rum. A tribute to the character created by Charles Dickens in the Pickwick Papers, Reverend Stiggins, whose favorite drink was “pineapple rum.” The barks of Victoria pineapples are infused in Plantation 3 Stars rum, which is then further distilled. Separately, the pineapple fruit is infused in Plantation Original Dark rum. Both distillate and fruit infusion are finally blended together, creating a rich and delicious pineapple bouquet, accented by smoky and clove notes. Plantation Stiggins’ Fancy Pineapple Rum is the fruit of the labor of a third collaboration between Alexandre Gabriel and David Wondrich. Alexandre and David first worked together to create Ferrand Cognac 1840 Original Formula, which was introduced at Tales of the Cocktail in 2011 and went on to be awarded the Best New Product at the Cocktail Spirit Awards of 2012. The second collaboration resulted in the Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao, launched in 2012 which was elected Spirit of the Year at the Berlin Bar Show in 2012. A rich and delicious bouquet, accented by smoky notes and aromas of tropical fruit, pineapple, citrus peel, and a touch of clove. The palate opens with a structured, pleasant sensation of ripe banana, pineapple, and spices layered in a smoky finish.

Plantation Rum

Plantation is the rum arm of Alexandre Gabriel’s drinks empire. He’s the man behind Pierre Ferrand Cognac house and Citadelle Gin. Plantation owns the West Indies Distillery in Barbados, and also bottles rum from around the Caribbean and beyond. Wherever they are from, all the Plantation rums go through a double-ageing, so first in the hot climate of Caribbean or wherever they are distilled, and they are shipped to France for some cooler climate ageing, sometimes in ex-Cognac casks. As well as being a distiller and entrepreneur, Gabriel also a keen historian of drinks, delving into the archives and sniffing out old recipes and techniques which he then recreates in modern form. One such bottling Plantation Stiggins’ Fancy Pineapple Rum made in association with Dave Wondrich and inspired by Reverend Stiggins from Charles Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers.
