Cazcabel Blanco Tequila
Cazcabel Blanco is a classically-styled tequila from Jalisco, Mexico, evidently named after a legendary medicine man known as Don Cazcabel. Rich in earthy roasted agave with citrus notes shining through and black pepper bringing spice to the finish. On the nose spicy, slight hint of citrus and plenty of earthy agave. The palate fresh, crisp with a rustic hit of earthy agave. Crisp and dry finish with a touch of black pepper.
Cazcabel Tequila
Cazcabel Tequila is a Mexican brand founded in 1997, named after a legendary medicine man who was said to wander the Jalisco mountains and attract Mexicans from hundreds of miles around with his famous natural tonics. Don Cazcabel was said to be a faithful student of Toltec, Olem, and Aztec traditions, and he made Tequila with agave grown at high altitudes, where the mineral and nutrient-rich soil allows them to grow larger than anywhere else in Jalisco.
Cazcabel produce three types of Tequila today using that very same agave, Blanco, Reposado and Añejo, and acts sustainability by planting new crops every year. The Blanco Tequila is made from 100% blue agave and is double distilled. Cazcabel`s Reposado is aged for between 2 and 6 months in oak barrels, giving it a smooth, golden colour. Cazcabel`s Añejo is aged between 12 and 18 months in oak barrels, resulting in a dark amber colour.
Cazacabel will soon be produced in an extensive $37M distillery in Atotonilco El Altois, set to open in 2023. The ground-breaking site will be run by renowned agave farmers and Tequila producers, the Vazquez family, who are respected within the industry for cultivating agave for four generations. Father and son, Alfredo and Uziel Vazquez, will head up Cazcabel’s new brand and create the Tequila with six-year-old Blue Weber agave crushed using traditional methods that include a roller designed by Alfredo himself. The plan is also to have locals working on the construction of the site itself, as well as to provide jobs within the distillery upon completion. Alongside production and warehousing, the distillery will also feature events spaces catering for guests and tours, as well as showcasing the history of Tequila making under the Vazquez family traditions.
