BARON DE SIGOGNAC VSOP
This complex, balanced VSOP Armagnac won a Silver Medal at the International Spirit Challenge in London 2004. This was aged for 6 months in new oak before 7 years in old oak. A fine digestif from top producers Baron de Sigognac.
Baron de Sigognac Armagnac
The Baron de Sigognac brand is owned by the Guasch family who have been in Gascony since the 12th century. It’s based at the Chateau de Bordeneuve in the Bas Armagnac region and run by father and son team Jean-Claude and Thomas Guasch. They own 60 hectares of vines planted with ugni blanc and baco varieties. To distil the wine into eau-de-vie, they use a traditional Armagnac alembic - short column still that produces a flavourful low strength spirit. Baron de Sigognac is one of the most reliable names in the region producing everything from VS and VSOP bottlings and age statements as well as rare vintage releases. They also produce some single estate wines under the Chateau de Bordeneuve label.
Enjoyed straight up as an after dinner digestif.
