Replacing the Westerhall Plantation Rum (Westerhall`s range underwent a redesign in mid-2016), Westerhall Rum No.5 is a great base for all manner of fruity rum cocktails. On the nose creamy, soft spices. Notes of vanilla fudge, hints of faint smoke, toasted oak and caramel. The palate is creamy, caramel-led palate. The Westerhall Estate has been producing rum along with sugar cane, bananas , nutmeg and limes since the 18th century, it is still possible to see some of the original machinery on the estate today.
The waters of Grenada are naturally infused with spices and flavours of the island such as nutmeg, and during the blending process these are naturally filtered into the rum giving it a distinctively Grenadian spiced-yet-smooth taste. It truly is a product of the island.
The rum was historically shipped to Bristol in charred oak barrels to preserve, and even enhance the flavour while giving it its exquisite golden hue.
A softer, buttery-honeyed rum best served with a mixer.
